Process Design & Facilitation
I am an experienced host of meaningful conversations, a chairperson and a master of ceremonies. I design learning processes that support people to have the conversations that make visible, tangible and accessible the collective intelligence of their group, team, organisation or community. I design and facilitate decision-making processes that invite creativity, cut the nonsense, are action-driven and equally take into concern the different needs of the people involved.
Having worked with groups varying from 3 to 3.000 people, I enjoy designing the questions that go to the heart of that what matters to them. Asking the question is one thing, the ability to listen and harvest the responses to that question is another essential piece. I only work in co-creation with my clients. That means that each process starts by building relationship from the very first contact and ends with clients and stakeholders experiencing ownership over the outcomes of the process.
Five principles are at the core of my work as process designer and host. I've learned to truly live and practice them in the Art of Hosting and they're inspired by PeerSpirit Circle Practice. They are the essential DNA on which every process that I design and host is built:
* Speak with Intention *
* Listen with Attention *
* Be Aware of the Impact of our Contributions, on ourselves, the other and our shared purpose *
* Make the Implicit, Explicit *
* Don't Take Yourself, the Other or the Purpose too Seriously *

"In March 2010, Arjen has hosted an international research seminar for the Dutch Youth Institute, focussing on "Strengthening youth work”. His excellently delivered World Café got us kick-started in the process and was a valuable contribution to the success of the seminar. As a host, he displays creativity and a result-oriented yet flexible approach. A craftsman!"
